From a forty-two year old mother of two, recently divorced before beginning therapy:  When a neighbor told me to see her therapist at ACDP, I was not functioning very well on my own.  I was drinking too much after a divorce and I worried that I wasn't providing healthy parenting for my two girls who were also going through a difficult time.  The first thing I got out of therapy was the feeling that my therapist wasn't judging me for my coping difficulties but wanted to help me do better.  She also believed that I could stabilize myself and help my daughters through their own struggles.  It wasn't easy or all uphill, but, together, we set a course for me and I followed it.  I still see her for an occasional tune-up, but my girls and I are now able to create a new and healthy life together.  JW

I am glad to have this chance to express my gratitude for my therapist's work at ACDP with my wife and me during a crisis in our marriage.  I absolutely believe that, without his intervention, we would have had no recourse but divorce, and we have three middle school-aged children.  The therapy took weekly sessions for a year that were very painful and at times, seemed hopeless, but we persisted and have come to reestablished trust and understanding.  The therapist didn't just sit there in silence but gave us directives, homework and feedback when we needed it.  I believe that the work of our therapist absolutely saved my marriage and our family.  TP
